"Paul Ivazes is the finest lighting artist, historian and conservationist in the United States today. His work is perhaps more collectible than the great pieces produced in the 19th century." Jim P, Los Angeles, California, Victorian Lighting Collector
For 2 years, Paul Ivazes of Quality Lighting worked on the historic lighting restoration and reproductions for the rehabilitation of the Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park, a stunning 19,186 square-foot Sacramento landmark and major public-private partnership between the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the Leland Stanford Mansion Foundation that opened in September 2005. The Stanford Mansion is also the official International Protocol Center for the Governor and Legislature hosting visiting presidents, prime ministers and ambassadors. Most of the mansion was painstakingly restored to its 1872 Victorian opulence, many rooms containing their original lighting fixtures, and Mr. Ivazes was responsible for working miracles. He has a wealth of knowledge to share as well as a deep commitment to preservation and historical accuracy. He was an absolute pleasure to work with.
John Mello, former Museum Curator I, Leland Stanford Mansion, currently Museum Curator II, California State Capitol Museum.
PAUL IVAZES IS A GENIUS. FURTHERMORE, HE HAS THE RESOURCES (CRAFTSPEOPLE) TO ACCOMPLISH WHATEVER YOU REQUIRE IN ANTIQUE LIGHTING. WORKING WITH PAUL WAS PURE PLEASURE- WE WERE ABLE TO COMBINE OUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE TO PRODUCE NEW LIGHTING DESIGNS THAT HAVE ALL THE EARMARKS OF A PERIOD FIXTURE. A CONSUMMATE CRAFTSPERSON. DURING THE YEARS OF OUTFITTING THIS TOWN HOUSE IN NYC, PAUL GENEROUSLY ANSWERED OUR TECHNICAL AND DESIGN QUESTIONS, LOCATED AND OFFERED ALL MANNER OF PERIOD LIGHTING, AND GENERALLY CONSULTED WHENEVER WE HAD A LIGHTING PROBLEM. ALL THIS IN ADDITION TO DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING A DOZEN NEW FIXTURES AND RESTORING SEVERAL ANTIQUE GASOLIERS. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT HIM!

I have known Paul Ivazes since he was a young lad at his father’s knee, and he has always struck me as someone with great potential. If only he had done something useful with his life, how happy we all would have been. But instead, he has pursued this wasteful and ridiculous lighting restoration career, which as we all know, can only lead to ruin. His reckless and carefree attitude toward his existence has earned him the moniker, “The Rock Star of Lighting”. We can only hope he comes to his senses soon, before his entire family is destroyed. Yours truly, Jana O.
Approximately 15 years ago we became acquainted with Paul Ivazes through mutual antique dealers in the lighting field. During that period of time we have found Paul to be extremely knowledgeable in most all the aspects of lighting and learned he was the "Expert" lighting dealer in the elegant old antique gas lighting World. We are extremely proud to call Paul a personal friend and consider him to be our "Mentor" and advisor in the World of antique lighting. Stoney and Myrtle S.
I have known Paul Ivazes both on a personal and business basis for twelve years. He is an honest, intelligent, and easy to deal with. His knowledge about the style and design of gas lighting, and his expertise in the repair, restoration, and how gas lighting works goes unsurpassed in the country. His ability is not only reflected by the work he has done for fellow collectors and myself across the country, but also by the work and demand for him and his abilities on major state projects as well as large restorations for private groups and individuals he has completed or is currently engaged in participating on. The name of his company, Quality Lighting, is a perfect personification of Paul Ivazes. Any endeavor he attempts in the Antique lighting industry will be just that, Quality. Jerry G,

"When we moved into our 1889 Queen Anne Victorian house in Alameda, California, we knew nothing about authentic Victorian lighting. The house did not have any of its original fixtures. We were lucky to meet Paul Ivazes of Quality Lighting, and he educated us on the different periods of gas lighting (from Rococo to Renaissance Revival to Eastlake and Aesthetic Movement). We are extremely pleased with the restored Victorian chandeliers that we have purchased from Paul, and he has also done some restoration work for us on other gas fixtures, paying close attention to all the little details that makes these antique pieces so special. We highly recommend Quality Lighting to anyone who wants to fill their home with fabulous Victorian light fixtures." -- Gordon N. CA
Paul Ivazes has provided invaluable service to me at my SF residence. He Reworked and restored a four gas, four electric combination chandelier circa 1895 by Bradley and Hubbard. This gas arms on this fixture had been electrified and a major decorative element of the gas arms was lost. Paul removed an arm from an identical fixture, sent it to be cast, then added the four missing pieces to the fixture. Then he added restored gas valves to make the chandelier functional with gas. For the past 15 years I have relied upon the expertise of Paul Ivazes to repair and in some cases design numerous historic lighting fixtures that now sit proudly in my personal collection. Paul is clearly a master at both design and fabrication of both gas and electric light fixtures and his knowledge of the trade is evident in his diligence and creativeness in historic lighting restoration!!!!!
